About This Place

Black Bear Diner Mesquite is a warm and welcoming American restaurant that beautifully captures the essence of classic family dining with a rustic twist. Located conveniently on Towne Crossing Blvd, this cozy spot invites locals and travelers alike to indulge in hearty, comforting dishes that feel like a hug on a plate. Whether you’re craving a satisfying breakfast to kickstart your day or a wholesome dinner that reminds you of home, Black Bear Diner delivers consistently delicious fare in a relaxed, inviting atmosphere.

Their menu is a treasure trove of homestyle favorites. Start your morning with the indulgent Cubs Chocolate Chip Pancakes, fluffy and studded with sweet chips, or savor the well-balanced Avocado Toast, which pairs creamy avocado with fresh, toasted bread. For a family-style treat, the Bacon Eggs & Pancakes Family Meal is a showstopper—generous portions of smoky bacon, perfectly cooked eggs, and golden pancakes make this an irresistible choice. If you’re in the mood for something savory and satisfying beyond breakfast, the Chicken Alfredo offers a comforting blend of tender chicken and rich, creamy pasta.

Among the 'Little Less Dinners,' true standout dishes include the Bear Paw Chicken Fried Steak, featuring tender beef tenderloin breaded and deep-fried to a crisp golden exterior, then smothered in Black Bear’s signature country gravy. Though one guest mentioned the gravy was overly generous when requested on the side, many others relish the hearty, down-home flavor it brings. Another must-try is the Homemade Crispy Onion Chicken Stack, where seasoned grilled chicken lies atop crispy onion straws, finished with a decadent hollandaise, bacon, and mushroom combo—this dish offers a delightful texture and savory explosion that keeps diners coming back.

Black Bear Diner Mesquite knows dessert is the perfect ending to any meal. Imagine biting into a slice of Coconut Cream Pie, its luscious coconut filling cradled in a buttery graham cracker crust and crowned with cloudlike whipped cream and toasted flakes. For those who appreciate classic comfort sweets, the California-style Cheesecake is a silky, light delight, while the Carrot Cake layers warm spices, shredded coconut, pineapple, and walnuts with velvety cream cheese frosting for a decadent finish. Truly, each dessert feels thoughtfully crafted to provide a satisfying finale to your meal.

The atmosphere at Black Bear Diner is consistently praised for its clean, inviting interior and family-friendly vibe. Customers often mention the attentive, friendly waitstaff who manage to balance professionalism with warmth—Melissa, a favorite server, stands out for her accommodating nature and child-friendly approach. The restaurant moves with a smooth efficiency, seating and serving guests promptly, so you never feel rushed or overlooked.

What truly shines through at Black Bear Diner Mesquite is the authentic, comforting dining experience grounded in generous portions and genuine hospitality. Whether you’re enjoying the rich, crispy bacon—a thick-cut favorite that many patrons swear by—or delighting in the perfectly plated breakfast options, you can taste the care and tradition that make this place special. Chicken fried steak seems processed meat. I asked for gravy on the side. They poured tons on top. Way too much. Loved the atmosphere. Great waitstaff. Very good coffee and service.

Great service seated quickly and served quickly. We have been to Black Bear diners all over the country and they never cease to impress. No matter what we order, we always order an extra side of four bacon. It is a thick cut and always cooked to perfection.

The interior and exterior of the establishment was clean. Our server Melissa was super sweet, accommodating and swift. Very friendly with our child and offered suggestions on our next visit which we definitely plan to plan. The portions, the temperature, the taste was all on point. The breakfast was beautifully plated. I could eat those crispy yet soft seasoned fries alone The price was well worth it. Very pleased with my first time visiting.
